On November 6th KNON held the first ever Roadhouse Blues
Party at Stroker's Icehouse in Dallas. Stroker's is my favorite
local biker hangout so it didn't take a bit of arm twisting to get me to
spend an afternoon there hanging out with bikers, ogling bikes,
drinking beer, and listening to live blues. Ginger, KNON's
Thursday night Blues DJ, also rides so she and I co-hosted the event.
Stroker's is an open place so we couldn't charge cover. Instead we
raffled some T-shirts & football memorabilia and sold copies of the just
released Texas Blues Radio Volume Four compilation CD. The weather
was perfect and there was a large crowd. Music isn't the
main attraction at Stroker's but the crowd seemed to get into what we
were doing. Delta Mud, the Eight Ball Blues Band, Rob Donovan, and
Leo Hull played so the music never stopped. We didn't raise a
whole lot of money but I know I had fun. I'm hoping this turns
into a regular annual event for KNON. |
